Is Year in Color free?
Yes, completely free to use with no hidden charges or premium features locked behind paywalls. Every feature — customizable moods, insights dashboard, cloud sync, and data export — is available to all users at no cost.
Where is my data stored?
Your mood data is stored locally in your browser by default. You can optionally create a free account to back up your data to the cloud and sync across devices. Your journal entries are never shared with third parties.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes! The app is fully responsive and can be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on iOS and Android for a native app experience. Just visit yearincolor.com on your phone and add it to your home screen. See our getting started guide for a walkthrough.
Will I lose my data if I clear my browser?
If you only use local storage, clearing browser data will remove your entries. Create a free account to keep your data backed up to the cloud so you never lose your journal history.
Can I export my data?
Yes! You can export your full mood history as a JSON backup file from the settings menu, and import it on any other device. Your data is always yours to keep.
